What do we offer as a company?
APM Terminals is undertaking a significant capital project at its newly acquired terminal site in Suape, in the state of Pernambuco, in Brazil. The goal of the project is to provide growth in the existing container terminal business for APM Terminals in the Country, as well as expand the business value and proposition for the entire Latin America region.
We are currently looking for the best talent for a Project Control Manager that will report directly to the Project Director. In this role you will play a vital role in our success. You're going to be part of the Project leadership team, where we are looking for a strong project professional who will lead the project control discipline for the APM Terminals Suape Project. Key to success in this role is centered around transparently communicating the project’s status to the Project Management team and broader business to support the successful delivery of the agreed project success criteria and delivery of project benefits back to the business.
You will be able to manage the project using both leading and lagging indicators for the successful performance management of the project team, suppliers and contractors. Further to this, you will hold the responsibility for setting, implementing, reporting, monitoring, and managing all program control procedures, indicators, dashboards, reports, for the entire project in addition to on-going relationship with internal project functions and contractors.

What are the main responsibilities of this role?
Principal Accountabilities
Implement and maintain updates to the project execution plan, including the following project management plans: Cost management, Risk management, Configuration management, Requirements management, Contract management, Stakeholder management, Communication management, Schedule management (typically P6 environment), Change management, Scope management, Project close-out and handover, Document management and Project controls and data management systems (typically PMWeb).
Project performance management reporting and presentation thereof, using both leading and lagging indicators for: Monthly Project Sponsor and HQ Reporting, Bi-weekly Steering Committee Update, Quarterly Project Execution Reviews and Definition and monitoring of performance KPIs.
Ensure correct and timely reporting: Within the project and team, to Project Director, Technical Lead, Business Integration Lead and other relevant leads. To HQ Program Lead (Project Sponsor) and PMO, and to other corporate counterparts (as required) including both leading and lagging indicators of project performance. Also, liaise with the functional counterpart on project control system issues and improvements.
Construction Controls and Governance: Implement APMT project controls and project procedures to manage the construction and delivery of equipment and project civil works in a forward-looking manner. Also, track project progress against the approved baselines and, where appropriate, ensure issues are pro-actively addressed, resolved and/or escalated.
Communication: Ensure clear and consistent reporting within and from the project team. Regularly meet with the engineering, construction, equipment and IT teams to maintain awareness of (potential) project control issues. Build working relations with counterparts at the head office, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
Interfaces: Work closely with the project team to maintain consistent and accurate project control. Liaise with the APMT global departments to ensure consistency with company standards. Provide feedback to the Project Execution team via the appointed PMO.
What are we looking for?
Experience
-
Minimum 10years professional experience, including: Successful delivery in a project controls role of 2 or more large-scale and complex infrastructure capital projects.

Extensive experience in Cost control and management on large-scale infrastructure projects, by tracking VOWD, ETC, EAC and other metrics;
-
Also, a minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant project controls lead or manager role
-
Relevant and hands-on experience using project management platforms and systems (used to manage document controls, contract management, change management, , communication, milestone management). Examples may include PMWeb, Proliance, PCM, Skire or similar.

Familiar with project controls tools including scheduling software (i.e. example Primavera P6, MSProject), hands-on experience preferred.

Experience of supervision and line management of others in project controls or project management roles.

Experience in coaching and mentoring others across a team or broader functional business.

Experience of working in a matrix organization preferred, but not essential

Have a strong understanding of procedures, processes, and project controls tools

Ability to proactively and positively communicate the value of robust project controls to the broader project and business teams

Good communication skills, where excellent level of English is a must and Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish a strong benefit to the role.
