We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Internal Auditor with a diverse background in Banking, Retail, and Insurance sectors to join our consulting team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing and enhancing our clients' internal controls, risk management, and governance processes across various business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute comprehensive internal audits across Banking, Retail, and Insurance operations for our clients, evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, and operational processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams within client organizations to understand business objectives, identify potential risks, and develop tailored audit plans to address specific industry challenges.
Apply a deep understanding of industry regulations and standards to assess compliance within the Banking, Retail, and Insurance sectors.
Utilize data analytics and technological tools to enhance audit procedures, identifying anomalies and trends that could impact operational efficiency and risk exposure.
Prepare detailed audit workpapers, documenting findings, observations, and recommendations in alignment with professional standards.
Conduct interviews with key stakeholders within client organizations to gather insights into operational processes, control effectiveness, and risk mitigation strategies.
Analyze financial statements, transactional data, and operational records to identify irregularities or inconsistencies that require further investigation.
Collaborate with client business leaders to develop actionable recommendations for improving internal controls, operational efficiency, and risk management practices.
Present audit findings and recommendations to senior management within client organizations and contribute to the development of management action plans.
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes within the Banking, Retail, and Insurance sectors, ensuring audits remain relevant and value-driven for our clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CPA, or CFE are preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive internal audit experience, including exposure to Banking, Retail, and Insurance industries.
Strong knowledge of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices within the specified sectors.
Proficiency in using data analytics tools and software to enhance audit procedures and identify potential risks or anomalies.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and consulting environments, collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve audit objectives.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to present complex audit findings to various audiences, including clients.
Strong project management skills to manage multiple audits concurrently and meet consulting engagement deadlines.
Experience with conducting risk assessments, audit planning, and audit execution in a consulting capacity.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills.
